{"id":616,"date":"2013-07-18T22:05:34","date_gmt":"2013-07-18T20:05:34","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.hostking.host\/blog\/?p=616"},"modified":"2024-03-22T12:25:37","modified_gmt":"2024-03-22T08:25:37","slug":"install-mailscanner-cpanel-server","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.hostking.host\/blog\/install-mailscanner-cpanel-server\/","title":{"rendered":"How To Install Mailscanner On Cpanel Server"},"content":{"rendered":"<h1>Installation.<\/h1>\n<ol>\n<li>If you have the cPanel\u00a0<strong>Clamavconnector<\/strong>\u00a0installed (WHM &gt; Add-on Modules)\u00a0<strong>remove it<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 it will break MailScanner<\/li>\n<li>Login to your root account on your server via SSH<\/li>\n<li>Download the package, expand it and go into it:<\/li>\n<li>\u00a0wget\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.configserver.com\/free\/msinstall.tar.gz\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">http:\/\/www.configserver.com\/free\/msinstall.tar.gz<\/a><\/li>\n<li>\u00a0tar -xzf msinstall.tar.gz<\/li>\n<li>\u00a0cd msinstall<\/li>\n<li>Follow the instructions in the README.txt and INSTALL.txt files in the package<\/li>\n<li>Please note that the script currently is configured to download the latest MailScanner at the time of writing. If you want a different version, edit msinstall.pl and modify the $mailscanner variable appropriately<\/li>\n<li>Once installed\/upgraded\/uninstalled make sure that both MailScanner is running correctly and that exim is sending and receiving emails (you should use 2 separate SSH windows to do this):\u00a0<strong>tail -f \/var\/log\/maillog tail -f \/var\/log\/exim_mainlog<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h1>Uninstallation<\/h1>\n<p>1. Remove MailScanner and the MailScanner Front-End:<\/p>\n<pre>cd \/usr\/mscpanel\nsh uninstall.msfe.sh\n\ncd \/root\nwget http:\/\/www.configserver.com\/free\/msinstall.tar.gz\ntar -xzf msinstall.tar.gz\ncd msinstall\/\nsh uninstall.sh<\/pre>\n<p>2. To remove the MailScanner Configuration icon from cPanel, go to WHM &gt; Packages &gt; Feature Manager. Edit the \u201cdisabled\u201d Feature List and uncheck the box for MailScanner Configuration. 3. Remove the root cron jobs that run mscpanel.pl and sa_rules.sh (or rules_du_jour):<\/p>\n<pre>crontab -e<\/pre>\n<p>4. Remove the following lines from \/scripts\/postupcp:<\/p>\n<pre>#!\/bin\/sh\nperl \/usr\/mscpanel\/mscheck.pl<\/pre>\n<p>5. Reset Exim Configuration (if desired), in WHM &gt; Exim Configuration Editor &gt; Reset All Configs to Defaults. 6. If you want to re-enable SpamAssassin through cPanel: WHM &gt; Tweak Settings &gt; SpamAssassin &gt; tick WHM &gt; Service Manager &gt; spamd &gt; tick both boxes WHM &gt; Feature Manager &gt; Edit a Feature List &gt; disabled &gt; Edit &gt; SpamAssassin and SpamAssassin Spam Box &gt; tick WHM &gt; Feature Manager &gt; Edit Feature List \u2013 edit any feature lists that you want to allow access to the SpamAssassin configuration in cPanel<\/p>\n<h1>Temporarly Disable\/Enable Mailscanner<\/h1>\n<h1>\u00a0in\u00a0Cpanel server<\/h1>\n<p>The simplest way to disable it is to do the following:<\/p>\n<pre>rm -fv \/etc\/exim_outgoing.conf\n\/scripts\/buildeximconf\nservice exim restart<\/pre>\n<p>MailScanner will still be running, but won\u2019t be involved in email delivery. If you also want to stop it running, go to WHM &gt; Service Configuration &gt; Service Manager and uncheck both boxes for MailScanner. Then login via SSH and do:<\/p>\n<pre>service MailScanner stop<\/pre>\n<p>You do need to do the first steps above to disable MailScanner before stopping the service, otherwise no mail will be delivered at all.\u00a0<strong>Important:<\/strong>\u00a0Before disabling MailScanner, you should check to see if there are any mails waiting to be processed by MailScanner. If there are and you disable MailScanner, the waiting emails will\u00a0<em>not<\/em>\u00a0be processed by exim until MailScanner is re-enabled. To find out if there are mails waiting (do this<em>before<\/em>\u00a0disabling MailScanner), in root SSH enter:<\/p>\n<pre>exim -bpc<\/pre>\n<p>You can contact us via the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/secure.waytotheweb.com\/cgi-bin\/helpdesk\/pdesk.cgi\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">helpdesk<\/a>\u00a0if you need help after you\u2019ve disabled MailScanner. To re-enable it:<\/p>\n<pre>touch \/etc\/exim_outgoing.conf\n\/scripts\/buildeximconf\n\/scripts\/mailscannerupdate\nservice exim restart\n\/usr\/mscpanel\/mscheck.pl<\/pre>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Installation.
